Family Duluth Trip June 2014

The week before the 4th of July we took a family trip to Duluth.  We did all the standard tourist things.  We started with the Alpine Slides which was a big hit with the kids (including Mitch and Dad).  We walked a bunch of trails and did exploring at places such as Enger Tower, the Chester and Lester rivers, and 7 bridges road.  We had dinner, took a pedal bike ride in the rain (at Katie's insistance) and  watched a oar boat come in at canal park.  We went to Gooseberry Falls, Split Rock Lighthouse, toured a tug boat at Two Harbors and ate at Betty's Pies.  We stayed right on the shores of Lake Superior at Grand Superior Lodges for a couple nights.  We stopped in to see Mike and Jenn and Great Grandma B as well.  The one thing I had forgotten about the tourist things in Duluth is that everywhere you go someone can fall to their death.  This had Katie and I on edge the whole trip.  Joel and Grant loved exploring on trails, climbing on rocks and all-in-all making us nervous.  You will notice that in most pics the fog is as thick as peas soup.  The sun was out at Gooseberry Falls but that was about it.  The sun finally came out for our 2nd trip to Enger Tower as we were heading out of town.
