Joel had a solid 1st season of traveling basketball in 4th grade. His 2016-2017 season got off to a late start due to a pre-season broken arm at the hands of neighbor boy Hans and a pine tree. Once he got rolling though he had a lot of fun. Joel made a few big shots during the season and improved all season. The biggest shot he made was an infamous wrong way basket at the end of one of our games to give the other team a 1 point lead and ultimately the victory. Amazingly, Joel tipped in the potential game winner moments later but the shot was waved off as after the buzzer by the ref. That is a game he and his teammates will never forget!
Joel knocking down a freethrow. Joel was one of our best shooters and arguably our 2nd best player. His coach (Dad) infamously yelled "shoot the ball Joel" when the gym was dead quiet when he passed up an open shot.

You will notice Grant in the team pictures. We decided that since Grant practiced with us all season as our 10th Man he should get a trophy for helping the team get better.
You'll notice #22 in some of these pics is not Joel - it's his little brother Grant! Grant donned his big brother's jersey and helped us out one tournament when Joel was out with his broken arm and a couple other kids were sick. Grant held his own and played well against the older kids!
Joel less than enthusiastic about having to sit and watch - let alone watch his little brother wear his jersey and play on his team!
